Value-added tech distributor Avnet is mobilizing more than 450 solutions specialists to support five business units dedicated to high-growth opportunities.
The personnel are already Avnet employees for the most part who have been working in supplier relations, partner engagement and other capacities. With the change, they now will be 100 percent focused on helping partners drive sales around specific opportunities.
This includes helping partners bundle offerings, think through business challenges and optimize customer satisfaction, among other things.
The new business units, meanwhile, will galvanize Avnet’s efforts to help partners maximize their sales in the following areas:
- Data Center Solutions
- Cloud Solutions
- Security and Enterprise Networking Solutions
- Data Analytics, Cognitive Computing and IOT Solutions
- Mobility Solutions
Another Avnet business in EMEA and the Americas named “Education Services” will focus on training solutions devoted to helping partners better understand a plethora of vendor technologies and innovations.
Avnet is making these changes to better align its capabilities with market opportunities, the company said in an interview with “The VAR Guy.”
“We want to provide focus and dedication into these specific areas for our partners and suppliers, and to provide them all the support they need whether that be technical expertise, sales support, marketing support, etc.,” says Gavin Miller, vice president of marketing and strategy for Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas.
In addition to these developments, Avnet hints that there will be additional changes coming soon. These, of course, come amid some turmoil at the company. (Earlier in July, Avnet CEO Rick Hamada resigned amid a revenue slump that forced the company to reduce its outlook for 2016. He was replaced by fellow board member Bill Amelio, who will serve as interim CEO until a full-time replacement is named.)
In particular, Avnet says its “channel ecosystem can expect to see more proprietary tools, services and solutions around the next-generation technologies, such as the Avnet Cloud Marketplace and Avnet’s innovative IOT collaborations.”
“I think the goal that we need to have—and by ‘we’ I mean our suppliers, partners and Avnet—is to focus on specialty business units and vertical markets because the opportunity is so big that without a focused effort we could miss some of it,” says Jeff Bawol, president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas.
