Asigra, Avnet Partner on Converged Data Appliance for MSPs

Asigra has partnered with Avnet to distribute its new family of Converged Data Protection Appliances to MSPs worldwide.

Cloud backup and recovery solution provider Asigra has partnered with Avnet (AVT) to market its new Converged Data Protection Appliance family to managed service providers (MSPs) looking to create a recurring revenue sales model. Each solution was designed to be plug and play, so users can set up and deploy their cloud backup and disaster recovery services quickly and easily.

The Converged Data Protection Appliances will be available worldwide and consist of Asigra software delivered as an integrated solution, according to the announcement. Customers will be able to purchase 1U, 2U or 4U versions of the solution, each consisting of 9.6TB, 32TB and 96TB of billable capacity, respectively.

Avnet will distribute the Converged Data Protection Appliance family though its Avnet Embedded division, which already includes a portfolio of storage, computing software and other embedded solutions for enterprise. Avnet Embedded will ship and package the Asigra Appliances and offer hardware-related support for customers.

“Avnet Embedded is working with Asigra leadership to accelerate Converged Data Protection Appliance delivery by leveraging our unique position as a global solution provider,” said John Salemme, vice president and general manager of Avnet Embedded, in a statement. “Through our relationship with Asigra, we are bringing together deep technology expertise to provide managed service providers globally with the advanced solution they need to quickly and reliably stand up their backup service infrastructure without undue complexity or costs.”

The Asigra portfolio was built to enable companies to deliver end-to-end data protection for both SMB and enterprise environments, according to the company. The appliances are also able to manage multiple data protection solutions to address disparate data types, computing platforms and operating systems to reduce maintenance and total cost of ownership.

“This is a backup/DR industry first that tackles the inflexible designs and costs of traditional storage systems, introducing a new approach to highly scalable and performance data protection storage,” said Eran Farajun, executive vice president at Asigra. “The approach enables IT service providers who want to offer cloud backup services for the first time a quick and easy way to get to market in days rather than months with all of the Asigra marketing and sales support provided through our Hybrid Partner Program.”

Asigra’s agentless solutions will be available for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android when they release in August, according to the press release. Each solution will also include a cloud license server, billing module LAN storage discovery tool and web-based management console so admins can monitor data via a single pane of glass.

Appliances start at around $5,000 and include 1TB of free Asigra Cloud Backup software with the purchase of an initial appliance, according to the announcement. While the solutions won’t be available until the end of the summer, Asigra is demonstrating its new portfolio this week during the company’s 8th annual Asigra Global Partner Summit in Toronto.
