SailPoint, which develops identity and access management (IAM) products, is taking what it has learned in the traditional IAM space and applying it to the enterprise cloud space. IdentityNow was designed to provide SaaS benefits including time to value, ease of use and lower operating costs while also providing large enterprises with the security, scalability and integration capabilities they require.
According to SailPoint, enterprises have been slow to adopt IAM-as-a-service (IDaaS) mostly because of data security concerns, cross-domain integration challenges and the limited capabilities of others in the space, which focus on single sign-on (SSO) capabilities. SailPoint, of course, thinks it has the solution to converting enterprises to the cloud when it comes to their identity management. The reason? Besides touting its decade of experience in IAM, SailPoint also noted it has completed an SSAE16 SOC 1 audit.
"We believe our approach represents a significant market shift as to how IAM will be procured in the future," said Kevin Cunningham, president and founder of SailPoint, in a prepared statement.
IdentityNow is being marketed as an easy-to-deploy and cost-effective SaaS IAM offering that can get enterprises up and running with IDaaS quickly and with minimal effort. Additionally, since enterprises are used to a certain level of functionality in their products, SailPoint has aimed to provide heavy customization. However, default policies, solution templates and setup wizards can make it even quicker for enterprises to launch the cloud service.
Now the question is, how will SailPoint's partners fit into the go-to-market strategy? Although SailPoint doesn't exactly make it obvious on its website, the company has been building a global ecosystem of partners. That speaks to its traditional IAM solutions, but how those partners will fit into the cloud is currently unknown.
