Canvas Intros Partner Program for Cloud-Based Business App Platform

Canvas announced a new partner program for its cloud-based platform that will allow users to convert paper forms into mobile apps. Partners will also receive a recurring revenue for creating co-branded app stores on Canvas' website.

Canvas is looking to help solution providers help their customers convert piles of paperwork into digital documents, with a new channel partner program for its cloud-based mobile business app platform.

The company is hoping to spur interest in its platform, which converts paper forms into fully customizable mobile applications that can be distributed through co-branded app stores on Canvas’ website. The company also has a library of 13,000 business apps in a variety of verticals ranging from construction to health and fitness to utilities.

Under the program, Canvas is offering its partners support in reselling the platform and co-branding a custom application store for customers, for which they receive recurring revenue. Partners also gain recurring commissions by creating a mobile app for download from the application store, the company noted.

“Our program partners will be uniquely positioned for new revenue opportunities by taking businesses mobile, but what is even more powerful is that any organization that produces content and forms can earn commissions by promoting mobile forms they create to other businesses,” said Michael Benedict, vice president, Canvas Application Store, in a statement. “For example, a consultant to the energy industry could convert their safety checklists into mobile forms, and then earn revenue when their mobile form is downloaded.”

Canvas noted the average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper per year, a number the company said can be reduced greatly by its mobile app platform.

Giving IT organizations the opportunity to convert their paper forms to digital is certainly an interesting prospect, and one that is sure to gain popularity as businesses put an increasing aspect on sustainability. Whether solution providers believe the effort is worth the payout ultimately will determine the success of the endeavor, however.
