Cloud services providers (CSPs) that offer big data and analytics platform tools are likely to continue to see their businesses grow in the year ahead.
IT research firm International Data Corp. (IDC) on Monday released a new report on how big data and analytics, in addition to collaborative applications and system software, had driven enterprise software growth in 2013 (5.5 percent year over year), bringing the total market size to $369 billion, a trend that is expected to continue.
"Data provides the edge to companies that can leverage their information for competitive advantage -- with new products and services, and an enriched customer experience," IDC Services and Executive Advisory Research Worldwide Software Vice President Henry D. Morris said in a statement.
He added: "Software for data management, data access, and collaborative information sharing continues to lead the growth in the overall software industry."
But the evidence connecting big data and analytics to a possible growth in cloud-based services doesn't stop there.
