Office 365 Partner Intermedia Joins Cloud Security Alliance

Intermedia, a channel-focused provider of cloud services to small and midsized businesses, announced its corporate membership in the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a non-profit whose mission is to promote cloud security best practices, as well as provide education cloud computing uses. CSA corporate members include companies in technology, telecoms, manufacturing and consulting.

“As our customers move to the cloud, and as end users access corporate and private data from a range of mobile and desktop devices, ensuring data privacy and security is of paramount importance,” said Michael Gold, president of Intermedia, in a prepared statement. “We look forward to working with the CSA to contribute deep knowledge in cloud security, while also learning from the many other experts in this fast growing space.”

Intermedia claims to be the world’s largest independent Microsoft Exchange hosting provider, and by all appearances is serious about security. According to the release, the firm delivers its services via a “secure, business-grade cloud,” and its offerings include a suite of security controls, with encryption and intrusion and malware detection systems, addressing customers’ data privacy, security and compliance requirements while transitioning communications to the cloud. Its proprietary security services include Outlook Backup, Message Mirror, SpamStopper, VirusStopper and Mobile Device Management, and Intermedia’s customer privacy policy passed Safe Harbor compliance standards set by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

In March, Intermedia merged its private-label program and its advisor program into a combined channel partner program, with the goal of allowing partners to choose either the private-label program or advisor model to best suit their needs. Also in March the company launched its syndicated Microsoft Office 365 cloud productivity suite offering, including core Office 365 components Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Lync Online, Office Web Apps and Office Professional Plus.
