A couple of weeks ago at VMworld 2012 in San Francisco we announced our vCloud Suite strategy. It was great to hear feedback about how our VMware Partner Network programs and requirements resonated with our Partners and to see a greater understanding of how our mutual investments in each other will help to propel their sales and grow their services businesses in this cloud era.
The technical foundation of VMware cloud solutions, VMware vCloud Suite, is the industry’s first complete and integrated cloud infrastructure suite and the platform underpinning the software-defined data center. vCloud Suite dramatically simplifies IT operations and delivers the best service-level agreements (SLAs) for all applications. The operational and organizational foundations of VMware cloud solutions are based on proven VMware education, certification and implementation services, and guidance from unparalleled VMware experience with customers moving to the cloud.
According to Gartner, the Public Cloud services opportunity is growing at roughly 19 percent year over year. By 2015, the Cloud services opportunity will be greater than $177 billion, with the large majority of those services focused on business process as well as application modernization. While VMware will have some capabilities to provide these services to customers, by design, we want this market to be serviced by our Partners with support from VMware through solution competencies, services IP, tools, enablement and field collaboration.
To further enable our Partners as customers move to the software-defined data center, VMware is announcing a host of new certifications, and a new framework for the VMware Certification Program that matches VMware certifications to the roles you need to effectively help your customers’ design, operate, and evolve their cloud environment, and the key solution tracks that support the evolution to the cloud. Some of these roles include: Engineer, Administrator, Architect, Developer, Governance/Operations. New Solution Tracks include: Datacenter Virtualization, Cloud, End User Computing, and Cloud Application Platform.
Additionally, we announced 5 new certifications for Cloud, including:
- VMware Certified Professional Cloud (VCP Cloud) – available today by taking and passing the VCP5 and the IaaS exam
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Cloud Infrastructure Administration (VCAP-CIA) – available 2013
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Cloud Infrastructure Design (VCAP-CID) – available Q4 2012.
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional Cloud Governance – available Q1 2013
- VMware Certified Design Expert Cloud (VCDX-Cloud) – available Q1 2013
As your customers proceed on this cloud journey, whether they are at the starting point of infrastructure virtualization or well on the way to hybrid and public clouds, you can bet that VMware is committed to providing our Partners the training, tools and support needed to ensure our mutual success. In addition to the above, VMware is also excited to invite you to Partner Exchange. Hosted in Las Vegas Feb. 23-28 the event is always a great place to deepen your expertise, grow your business and further your relationships.
