Oracle, InfoSys Debut Project-Driven Supply Chain Solution

Recognizing the fact that business never sleeps, Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Infosys, a Diamond level member of the Oracle Partner Network, have developed the Project Driven Supply Chain for High Technology Companies, a platform designed to help companies reduce their inventory and increase their productivity.

The Project Driven Supply Chain for High Technology Companies (which gets our award for the solution with the longest name) is aimed at increasing supply chain performance via a unified platform that leverages Infosys’ technology business and systems integration expertise with Oracle’s integrated applications. In a nutshell, it aims to reduce project-related inventory by helping ensure parts and components are delivered to project sites and clients at the right place and time, and improve financial forecast accuracy through revenue planning and risk analysis capabilities.

With intricate installation projects requiring weeks, months or even years of implementation and the on-going servicing of complex equipment a rising challenge, organization is key.

“For example, if parts go on allocation or there is a major catastrophe such as the Japan earthquake, Project Driven Supply Chain enables the supply chain planner to do ‘what if’ scenarios to minimize the impact on revenue by allocating parts to the priority projects for revenue purposes,” said Jonathan Oomrigar, solution specialist vice president at Oracle. “The installers have the ability to update tasks real time, thus allowing contracts and billing to have visibility to work completed so they can bill and book revenue.”

In a world where many businesses have customers spread around the world and are required to operate 24/7, making sure deliveries, installations and billing are all conducted on time is paramount. Resellers who can’t deliver are replaced with someone who can — and there’s little room for error.
