When It Comes to Backup, Are You Fast?
The old adage that time is money is absolutely true. Whether the costs are additional employee wages, the opportunity cost of missing sales or the cost of acquiring faster equipment, time is one of the levers in any business that is ultimately under the control of the business owner.

This month we offer a bonus post to our series on how to offer great cloud services. In our first post here on MSPmentor, we asked, “Are you easy?” In that blog, we discussed how MSPs need to reduce the friction in the customer experience by automating processes. In our second post we asked, “Are you complete?” We discussed how to build stickier and more profitable cloud services using bundling, cross-selling and upselling. In the third post, we asked, “Are you secure?” We discussed how encryption and blockchain technology are working together bring about highly secure backups. In this bonus post, we ask: “Are you fast?”
The old adage that time is money is absolutely true. Whether the costs are additional employee wages, the opportunity cost of missing sales or the cost of acquiring faster equipment, time is one of the levers in any business that is ultimately under the control of the business owner. Operational efficiency can literally make or break the business. In fact, the service providers we have interviewed have consistently referenced personnel costs as their top business cost.
Another example of how time is money is the expected costs of downtime in any business. According to IDC, unplanned downtime costs the Fortune 1000 from $1.25 billion to $2.5 billion every year.
At Acronis, we take our partners’ and customers’ time very seriously. When we released our latest versions of Acronis backup solutions, our development team made speed a top priority. Our installer loads in half the time of our competitors and takes just a fraction of the clicks to launch a new installation.
We also worked hard to make sure the product was more efficient in performing backups. In fact, we were so confident with some of our patented improvements that we engaged an independent laboratory to validate our efforts. What they found supported our claims: Acronis backup performs backups twice as fast as the nearest competitor. This boost in speed saves end users time and money, and gets admins back to work on other tasks faster. If you would like to view these results for yourself, click here to read the complete report.
Acronis also offers fast recovery options, including VM replication for hot failover and our patented Instant Restore, which allows customers to restore their backup images directly into a virtual machine in as little as 15 seconds. This keeps employees’ productivity up by allowing them to get back to work even as their recovery is ongoing.
In fact, we think being fast is so important that we decided to work with some of the world’s fastest people, the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula 1 racing team. Acronis recently became a sponsor of the team, with Acronis backing up and protecting team data both at team headquarters in Italy and on the race track. See the news here!
